killing a young man and opening fire at a police officer. george kiriyama joins us from the crime scene with a key witness. george? >> reporter: the memorial continues to grow here in front of this 7-eleven. this is near the spot where rory park pettifor was killed friday night. we talked to his father. >> we are all shocked. we probably will be for the rest of our lives. >> reporter: early sunday night, police arrived at rory's home. >> i said this is about rory? >> he said, yes. >> he is dead, isn't he? he said yes. >> reporter: he stopped for a moment just on friday night. that's when two men in ski masks, holding guns, tried to jack him for his car. >> we thought where we lived and how we raised him, that nothing was even possible. >> reporter: police say two suspects killed him as they tried to get away with the crime rampage in the city. they killed him and hen fired at an officer. this shows where the car was hit by multiple bullets. >> i know that san jose is having a crime wave. but they used to call san jose the safest big city in the world. >> reporter: police later arr

's tuesday, november 20th. this is "today in the bay." >>> good morning to you and thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> and i'm jon kelley. good morning, everybody. happening right now, the port of oakland wrapped up in a labor struggle as union workers walk off the job this morning. this is all part of a 24-hour strike that first started at oakland international airport. that happened overnight. christie smith is live at the port of oakland right now where the timing of this strike is absolutely no coincidence. christie, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you. yeah, they timed it very close to thanksgiving. we know they were supposed to -- they got started about 20 minutes ago. we are on middle harbor shoreline park here. these are a lot of electricians and other workers. there are trucks out here waiting to get in the port but these workers that are on strike saying that they are hoping the truckers and other union workers actually support them today and don't go in. their plan is to shut down operations at the port of oakland today after holding a picket line at the

. tonight, the reward money has been increased. nbc bay area's kris sanchez has new details and joins us from the 7-eleven in san jose. that's where that crime spree turned deadly. >> reporter: hi, there. yes, the suspect in custody and the one still on the loose fired directly at that police officer as he sat in his car, a sitting duck, so to speak. he ducked under his dash just to make sure that he could survive the accident. that was after the suspects gunned down a young man here at the 7-eleven after trying to carjack him. a collection of things that remind rory parkpettiford's friends of him are collected near where he was killed, randomly, senselessly by two suspects on a violent crime spree on friday night in san jose. >> it just sucks. seeing this and having him just be gone. i can't call him to see what's good and just chill. i don't know. it's just really sad. >> reporter: steven mosley says his friend, parkpettiford, was good at music, full of life and helpful to his family. the suspects who allegedly killed him while trying to steal his car outside this 7-evan are ruthless.

the purchase of a british company. we will have all of the details. good morning. thanks for being with us. i am marla tellez. >> i'm jon kelley. hp hitting investors with shock treatment claiming it was a victim of financial fraud. it says it was fooled into buying a british company last year which was a mistake for $11 billion. according to scott mcgrew, it was the not just a mistake, but a disaster. you have had a couple of hours to digest it. how ugly is it? >> it will be talked about in business schools for years. it will be hard to imagine that if these allegations are true, there will not be some sort of criminal charges. during a routine financial flying, hp said the company it bought last fall deliberately hid how much profit and someone cooked the books. it is an incredibly serious allegation. hp has launched an investigation of what it calls forensic accounting and notified the u.s. government. >> we believe there is a willful effort on the part of autonomy management to mislead shareholders and mislead potential buyers, including hp. we stand by the review that we have seen. as yo
